Radyne Corporation, an Inductotherm Group company, unveils its 5KW, 100-400kHz future concept Induction Power Supply, the Versapower® - Xtreme™ VX5H at the Inductotherm Group Booth, Hall 10 Stand B24. The concept system is based on Radyne’s new Digital-iQ™ Control Technology allowing incredible ease of use, advanced communication, control and programming features previously unseen in Induction Power Supplies.

The Versapower® - Xtreme™ complements Radyne’s existing Versapower® Induction Power Supply Line providing a premium Induction Power Supply for the discerning customer who needs its advanced features, rugged design, and outstanding speed. The System’s Digital-iQ™ technology is 100% Digital and allows it ramp from 0-100% of rated power in under 500 microseconds. Inductotherm Corp. Ships the Largest Gold Smelting Induction Furnaces Ever Made

[May 4, 2011] – When one of the largest gold mining companies in the world first approached Inductotherm Corp., an Inductotherm Group company, for their upcoming project in South America, they knew they wanted to smelt more gold per batch than had ever been done before. And Inductotherm was eager to assist them in making their vision come true.

First, Inductotherm had the task of locating the largest silicon-carbide crucible commercially available on the market. Once we knew how large the furnace could be, Inductotherm got to work and began designing three induction melting systems to meet their needs.

The three 5 metric ton induction Steel Shell Furnaces will be powered by three 750 kW VIP® Power-Melt® Systems and these, along with a variety of ancillary equipment, completes the melt shop.

Powerit Solutions and Inductotherm Corp. Integrate Technologies for the Induction Melting Industry

The Technology
Powerit’s Spara technology, an integrated hardware and software product, plugs businesses into the smart grid so that facilities can use energy more efficiently and take advantage of utility incentive programs and rate structures. For foundries, the most widely used Spara-enabled strategy is demand control, which involves deciphering how and where costly energy spikes occur, then making precisely timed load reductions to avoid those spikes to take advantage of lower-rate periods.

Spara safely synchronizes demand reductions through a carefully selected collection of loads to achieve the desired kW reduction while maintaining the needed production volume. In foundries, this is usually accomplished by interfacing with large furnaces. Other equipment such as dust and fume collectors, air compressors and A/C units can also be controlled for savings.

The results can be dramatic. At the Cannon-Muskegon foundry, in Muskegon, Michigan, for example, peak demand usage on loads including the six, production-critical Inductotherm furnaces was reduced by 26 percent, and the Spara installation’s return on investment took just 10 months. Consarc Ships 150T Electroslag Remelting System to JSW

Muroran Hokkaido, Japan –
The Japan Steel Works has received from Consarc Corporation, Rancocas, NJ USA the complete shipment of a 150T Electroslag Remelting (ESR) plant. When commissioned, this system will be the largest single electrode static melting ESR plant in the world, giving The Japan Steel Works unmatched ESR capabilities
and enabling them to maintain their position as the premier supplier of large forged rotor shafts.

The ESR furnace system consists of two furnace heads with two melt stations, and is capable of melting a single 150T electrode, or multiple smaller electrodes simultaneously, under complete inert gas cover. It utilizes proprietary power systems designed and built by Consarc specifically for this large scale ESR application.
The furnace system was designed, manufactured, preassembled for test, and shipped from Consarc’s world headquarters in Rancocas, NJ USA. JSW plans to put the ESR furnace system into production in August 2011.

JSW’s Muroran Plant boasts some of the world’s most modern and technically advanced equipment including the aforesaid ESR furnace and a 14,000-ton hydraulic forging press. The plant manufactures a wide range of forged and cast products used to support the global energy sector.

Masabik Chooses Inductotherm Melting Equipment to Spearhead New Steel Melting Project

Masabik, formerly known as NFC (National Foundries Company) commissioned Inductotherm Europe, an Inductotherm Group company, to provide a 2000kg Small Steel Shell furnace and 1250 Dual-Trak® power supply. This order was placed in 2010 to expand Masabik's operation into the steel production industry. The equipment is now fully operational and Masabik is highly delighted with their new equipment.

Inductotherm has been a long-time supplier to Masabik - in 1994 the company installed an Inductotherm 2250kW Dual-Trak® power supply, with two 3 tonne Heavy Steel Shell Furnaces, specifically for the production of grey and ductile iron castings.

An Inductotherm 500kW VIP Power-Trak® power supply along with two 1 tonne Duraline Furnaces were then added to give flexibility in the Melt Shop.

Masabik was established in 1994, occupying 40,000 square meters of land in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. It is considered to be the large and most advanced foundry in the region.

Inductoheat Ships InductoForge® Billet Heating System & Forging Line

Madison Heights, MI - Inductoheat, Inc., an Inductotherm Group company and the world's leading induction heating equipment manufacturer, recently shiped a single module, 500kW / 3kHz InductoForge® induction forging system and various material handling equipment to a worldwide supplier of hardware and hand tools. This machine is designed for heating a wide range of billet diameters and lengths to 2250°F and +/- 50°F.

This forging line begins with a 6,500 lbs capacity automatic bin tipper dumping carbon steel billets into a rotary feeder with automatic refill. The rotary feeder continuously feeds billets end to end using a start/stop motion sensor, and supplies a pinch wheel infeed system that precisely delivers billets through the induction coils on heavy-duty skid rails.

The 500kW / 3kHz power module supplies two, in-line forging coils and accurately heats the billets to 2250°F at a nominal rate of 300 pieces per hour. Process control is enhanced by IHAZ™ temperature modeling software, enabling advanced tempearture control of the billet heating process. IHAZ™ software allows for a customized billet temperature profile (Induction Heat Affected Zone) to best suit the customer's ideal billet heating specifications. It can also generate the optimum-running parameters and set points for Standby and Rapid Start, which are stored as a recipe in the billet heater's AB Compact Logix PLC and AB PanelView 700+.

After billets are heated to the ideal temperature profile, they exit the induction coil on a fastextractor conveyor, while the infrared temperature pyrometer activates the over and under accept/reject system.
