Aurubis: Strong indications of metal stock shortages identified

During the regular review of metal inventories, Aurubis identified significant deviations from the target inventory as well as deviations in special samples of certain deliveries of input materials in the recycling area. Based on these indications, Aurubis assumes that the company has become the subject of further criminal acts after cases were already published in June 2023. Aurubis has called in the state criminal investigation office. 

Extent of the damage 

So far, it has not been possible to determine with certainty the extent of the damage incurred at Aurubis. Aurubis has started an extraordinary inventory of metal stocks. The result is expected at the end of September 2023. At present, it cannot be ruled out that a loss in the low, three-digit million € range has occurred. The loss will impact earnings in fiscal 2022/23. The forecast corridor for the current fiscal year 2022/23 (€450-550 million) can therefore not be maintained. 

Investigations by internal and external experts to process the facts and with a view to further improving the safety concept have been initiated by the company's Executive Board and Supervisory Board.
