Automotive supplier Benteler has opened a new automotive plant in Kenitra, Morocco. The factory, with its production facilities – which include a 3200tonne cold-forming press, state-of-the-art welding facilities, a cathodic dip coating (CDC) system and 3D laser technology – is designed as a digital and networked production facility. Industry 4.0 solutions promise efficient processes, high quality and maximum transparency.
Ralf Göttel, CEO of the Benteler Group, emphasises the strategic importance of the new plant: “With the opening of the Kenitra plant, we are consistently advancing our global growth and manufacturing strategy. The site is a prime example of the way we combine industrial excellence with customer focus and sustainability.” One year after the official groundbreaking ceremony, the production site in the Atlantic Free Zone is set to commence operations. More than 300 direct jobs are being created, with further employment opportunities along the local value chain.
A strategic location with a promising future
Morocco has excellent conditions at the ready for Benteler, Ralf Göttel reports: a skilled workforce, an efficient industrial infrastructure, a well-established automotive industry and a favourable geographical location with excellent logistical connection. Its growing share of renewable energy further supports the company’s sustainability goals.
Modern technologies and smart manufacturing
The items the automotive supplier will manufacture at its Kenitra site from summer 2026 include front and rear bumpers, twist-beam axles, crash struts and transverse control arms for an international automotive OEM. The production systems meet the highest technological standards – including a 3,200tonne cold-forming press, state-of-the-art welding systems, cathodic dip coating (CDC) and 3D laser technology. The plant was designed to be a digital and networked production facility from the outset. Industry 4.0 solutions from its Smart Factories initiative ensure efficient processes, high quality and maximum transparency, Benteler states.
