Sakatani, currently Vice President of Plants and Infrastructure Systems at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group, will assume the position of CEO at Primetals Technologies effective April 1, 2026. His predecessor, Yoshiharu Ikeda, is retiring.
Koji Sakatani began his career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and has held several global positions including Head of Strategy at Primetals. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Plants and Infrastructure Systems at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. “Koji Sakatani has an impressive track record in senior management within the metals industry, particularly with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group. His proven leadership will reinforce our vision to be a pioneer and global leader in the heavy industry sector.
